Composition

Mecphen Forte Tablet
Each uncoated tablet contains :

Phenylpropanolamine HCl I.P.	25 mg
Chlorpheniramine Maleate I.P.	4 mg
Eucalyptus globulus Oil	7 ml
Paracetamol I.P.	500 mg

Phenylpropanolamine HCl I.P.	5 mg
Chlorpheniramine maleate I.P.	2 mg
Paracetamol I.P.	125 mg
Menthol	1 mg

Description
Phenylpropanolamine acts on alpha-adrenergic receptors in the mucosa of the respiratory tract to produce vasoconstriction, which temporarily reduces the swelling associated with inflammation of the mucous membranes lining the nasal passage thus producing nasal decongestion.

Chlorpheniramine maleate is an antihistamine. It blocks the action of histamine at the H1 receptor sites by competing with the histamine and attaching itself to the receptor sites. By blocking the effect of histamine on capillary wall, they reduce capillary permeability which helps in reducing the exudation and consequently rhinorrhoea. It also has anticholinergic action which provides a drying effect on the nasal mucosa.

Paracetamol has good analgesic and anti-pyretic action. It provides relief from the head ache, body ache or fever present in Rhinitis, viral infections and common cold.Menthol provides a soothing feeling on the throat.

• Common Cold
• Rhinitis
• Sinisitis
• Pharyngitis
• Hay fever
• Rhinorrhoea

Dosage and Administration

Adults :

• 1 tablet every 4 to 6 hours

Children :

• 2 to 5 years : 2.5 ml 3 to 4 times a day
• 6 to 12 years : 5 ml 3 to 4 times a day

Above 12 years : 10 ml 3 to 4 times a day

Contraindication
New born or premature infants. Patients with uncontrolled Hypertension. Hypersensitivity to any ingredients.

Side Effects
Mecphen Forte/ Mecphen suspension is generally well tolerated. Drowsiness and dryness of mouth are most common side effects. Rarely palpitation can occur due to phenylpropanolamine.

Mecphen Suspension Tablet : Bottle of 60 ml.
